    The first settler to arrive in the Milford area was the Rev. Francis McCormick, a Revolutionary War soldier with a thousand acre land grant, in 1796.     Promont is a Victorian mansion circa 1865 and the former home of John M. Pattison, Ohio’s 43rd Governor. It is currently owned and operated as a museum by the Greater Milford Area Historical Society. The museum features period furnishings, a reference library, changing exhibits, and a gift shop. Back Open in March 2020! We’re so excited to share that our little gift shop is getting a BIG makeover! Our amazing friends with the all-volunteer Promont Design Group and The Beechtree Circle, have taken on raising funds, tools, and supplies – along with folks willing to donate their time and elbow grease – to give our gift shop a total makeover!! We’re talking new paint, flooring, displays, and more! Add to this some great new inventory options, and 2020 is going to be the year to visit the Promont Gift Shop for all your unique & most special gift-giving needs!
